Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique involving fine filament needles, (the same as those used in acupuncture) its application is used to release myofascial trigger points (MTP) and tight muscles.

Dry needling may be used if you present with the following conditions:

By using the needle in either a shortened muscle or a MTP it stimulates a healing response to release and lengthen or deactivate and desensitize the affected muscle, therefore reducing pain.

Dry needling can be slightly uncomfortable when the needle enters a tight muscle. You may experience a twitch or muscle cramp, this is normal and a great sign as it indicates that your muscle is about to relax.

(PRM), reducing the flexibility of muscles, ligaments and joints, affecting your ability to adapt to further stresses and predisposing you to injury. A cranial osteopath is trained to diagnose these strains and restore health and balance.
